Sport Karate at MAK

Mccoy's Action Karate has a successful Sport Karate (Tournament) Team, that rides the wave to success. If you have interest in Tournaments, the class times are FREE to all Master's Training Course members.

What is MAK's Mission in Sport Karate

ride the waveMcCoy's Action Karate is commited to the Promotion and Growth of Sport Karate for those who Want to Ride the Wave.

We teach people:

To Live with Confidence & Face Challenges;
To Exercise Self Discipline and Dedication to a Goal;
To Have Fun in Competiton;
To Win.

Sport Karate is not for everyone. In our experience, about 10% of our students body is well suited to the time, money and work it takes to compete on the tournament curcuit. We have developed a system where you can train with our team, you can even compete with our school, but you do not have to commit until you have expereinced the rush that sport karate can supply.

If you and we find you are one of the few suited to Sport Karate, you will be asked to join our Sport Karate Team, wear it's colors, and ride the Wave of Excellence.

What's the Commitment?

Somethings are Required of You to Compete

If you are going to attend a Sport Karate Event, YOU MUST have an instructor's permission. Black Belts may attend any event, though we encourage you to attend events with a coach and instructor. Colored Belts are prohibited from attending any event without a coach and instructor. We seldom extend our schedule unless it is for a Black Belt and a team member.

No student may perform in public without prior authorization of an instructor, and that rule is maintained in Sport Karate. You must have your coach's approval for any form or addtion to a form before performing it.

Color Belts are required to compete in Forms, Sparring and Weapons

Sport Karate Class Times are published on the Student Schedule. Student MUST attend a sport karate class the week they attend a tournament.

We recommend that you attend all three classes each week, however that is not required. Sparring at a tournament, however, requires that you attend a HIT class the week of the event.

We recommend that you spend time outside of class working on your art. See your coach for suggestions.
